Submission of papers for the XIII SOCINE annual conference (2009) is opened. The Conference will be held at the University of São Paulo, at São Paulo city.

SOCINE has three modes of participation. In addition to the usual panels (with three participants) and individual papers, there is a Thematic Seminars mode.

Scholars and students who live outside Brazil can submit proposals and make the payment referring to the 2009 annuity following the instructions found at SOCINE’s website (www.socine.org.br – English version and inscriptions from abroad) from March, 09 through April, 11. The application form can be found at our website. The form must be filled in and the receipt for an international deposit of US$ 100.00 (for professionals) or US$ 50.00 (for students) for those who live in USA, Canada, Japan, Australia and Europe; US$ 80.00 (for professionals) or US$ 40.00 (for students) for those who live at other countries in the account SOCINE (Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos de Cinema e Audiovisual) must be send to socine@gmail.com as a PDF archive (until 04/06).

Submissions from abroad must be made at the web site by the English version. You must fill up the registration form with your information, pay the annual fee and wait the site to liberate your proposal form (3 to 5 working days). The receipt must be send by email (pdf) to socine@gmail.com from March, 09 to April, 05. The list of the approved proposals will be available on May, 15.

The payment of the annual fee is a sine qua non condition for the proposals to be submitted to our reviewers as SOCINE congress is only for members. The payment of the annual fee also assures all the rights to the associated members, including the right to take part in the decisions of the Society, as established in our statute (available at www.socine.org.br).

Our schedule:
3/09 to 4/05 – payment of the annual fee (mandatory for submission to be accepted)
3/09 to 4/11 – submission of papers for the conference

5/15 – announcement of the papers approved by our site and by our mailing list (socine-brasil@yahoogrupos.com.br) opened to all.

Submissions will be selected among THREE CATEGORIES, each one with its own demands:

a) INDIVIDUAIL PAPERS: title, expanded abstract with up to 4,000 characters (with space), abstract (500 characters), bibliography (1000 characters), and mini-curriculum vitae (500 characters).

b) PRE-CONSTITUTED PANELS (3 PARTICIPANTS): abstract for the proposal of the panel by the coordinator of the panel (up to 1,000 characters); expanded abstract (up to 4,000 characters with space), abstract (500 characters) and mini-curriculum vitae (500 characters)for each participant in the panel. The submission of the papers in the panel must be filled in individually by each of the three participants, including the coordinator. The panels should be composed by participants who have PhD and who work at least at two different institutions.

c) INDIVIDUAL COMMUNICATION IN THEMATIC SEMINARS: expanded abstract up to 4,000 characters (with space), abstract (500 characters), bibliography (1000 characters), mini-curriculum vitae (500 characters) filled in individually by those who wish to propose a work for the chosen seminar. The title of the seminar in which the researcher wants to participate must be indicated.

The abstracts for the THEMATIC SEMINARS are available on our website. Proposals sent by email will not be accepted.


Also they may be sent in the language that the participant wishes to talk. The languages of the congress are Portuguese, Spanish and English.
